Sam Neill‘s sudden death has played on the heartstrings of many, and that includes his onscreen and real-life lovers.

His ex-girlfriend, Laura Tingle, uploaded an emotional video in his honor, reflecting on the sweet memories they created during his lifetime. Many industry stars, including his “Jurassic Park” character’s love interest, have poured in their tributes, remembering the iconic actor for his onscreen talents.

Sam Neill passed away at the age of 78 on Monday, July 13, at a hospital in Sydney. The actor’s shocking death came shortly after he announced that his longtime battle with cancer was over.

Tingle uploaded a sweet montage as a tribute to the late actor, whom she dated from 2018 to 2021. The video had different short clips of the actor, images of the former lovers, and fun times they spent together.

The touching video tribute was simply captioned “Sweet Dreams darling Sam,” seemingly her way of saying goodbye to him as well as the love they once knew.

The clips showed different sides of Niell; some parts showcased his love for animals, the outdoors, and the arts. In several images included in the almost 90-second video, Tingle and the entertainer were seen cozying up on the couch, lying on each other’s shoulders and sharing a forehead kiss.

Fans have reacted greatly to the Australian Journalist’s tribute, which had John Hiatt’s “Long Time Comin'” playing in the background. Many commenters expressed condolences and thanked Tingle for sharing her tribute from a personal point of view.

“How lovely, thank you so much for sharing such private moments. Such a loss of a wonderful human [heartbreak emoji]” a commenter penned. “Dear Laura. Thank you for sharing your treasured and beautiful photos. You both look so happy in them, and it is beyond sadness that Sam has passed,” another added.

Maybe Neill had a thing for Laura’s, as coincidentally, his love interest in the iconic sci-fi film was another Laura. Laura Dern is not grieving in silence as the news of her onscreen partner makes headlines.

The actress spoke highly of Neill, describing him as her “beloved lifetime friend.” She then spoke of his character, saying, “He showed me the depths of loyalty, protectiveness and love always with the driest of wit.”

The award-winning actress added that her late co-star was “a true and noble gentleman” who was “wrapped up in my dream leading man.” Her statement to Page Six ended with a declaration of love for Neill, highlighting that their friendship extended beyond the movie set. “I will love you forever, Dr. Alan Grant,” Dern concluded.

The iconic co-stars played love interests first in the 1993 hit Sci-fi film “Jurassic Park.” Years later, they reprised their roles as Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant in 2001’s “Jurassic Park III” and 2022’s “Jurassic World Dominion.”

Nicole Kidman Was ‘Immensely Saddened’ By Her Co-Star’s Passing

Kidman is another industry star who got to work closely with the late entertainer. She co-starred with Neill in Phillip Noyce’s 1989 thriller “Dead Calm,” and they remained friends since then. Kidman issued a statement recalling the beautiful times she shared with the actor throughout his lifetime.

“Sam was one of the greats, a joy to be around. We met when I was just 18, and he took me under his wing, and we stayed friends for life. He was charming, kind, funny, and intelligent. He will be greatly missed, and my heart goes out to his family,” part of her tribute read as shared by The Blast.

Kidman and Neill’s friendship went beyond the screens. They maintained a professional and platonic relationship and were a pillar of support for each other during highs and lows. Kidman revealed that the “Peaky Blinders” actor even sat by her side while she recovered in the hospital.

The Actor Was Full Of Life Just Before His Passing

No one would have placed a bet that Neill would be dead based on his last public sighting about a month ago. The actor attended the 2026 Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame Awards in Sydney.

He shared photos of the event on Instagram where he posed alongside one of the honorees. “ARIA HALL of FAME awards! Great night in Sydney,” his caption to the photos began. The first picture was a selfie where Neill smiled next to ARIA honoree, Australian singer and actress Kate Ceberano, as they stood under theater lights at venue Carriageworks.

Neill went ahead to praise the other attendees in his caption, writing, “Four women i have idolized for decades were honored. JENNY MORRIS, KATE CEBERANO, and VIKA and LINDA BULL.”

The entertainer also shared behind-the-scenes photos of iconic Australian music duo Vika and Linda, New Zealand singer Morris, who was inducted into the Hall by former New Zealand prime minister Ardern.

The New Zealand native joined the fight to stop a mining company from drilling gold mines near his vineyard. The actor stressed that his family vineyard in Central Otago has been growing grapes and producing wine for over a century, which would be destroyed if the Australian mining company Santana Minerals is allowed to drill gold mines in the area.

The company had applied for consent from the government to tap into the gold deposits within the region, as reported by The Guardian. While they see profit from mineral resources, Neill sees damage to the environment as well as a loss of tourism.

“I’m not against mining. I’m against this mine. If this mine goes ahead, and God willing it won’t, everything that you see [there] is under a claim [by the mining company]. And there will be mining all around us, and that’ll be the end,” the “Jurassic Park” actor expressed.

Neill’s farm has native trees and vineyards he had personally grown for decades; the responsibility of leaving “land better than you found it” would not be upheld if the goldmine plan pushes through.

One thing is certain, and that is Sam Neill would be missed!
