Despite the disappointing security update Prince Harry was greeted with ahead of his imminent trip to the UK, reports suggest he remains “determined” to take his wife and children along with him.

The Duke is understood to have agreed to stay at an unnamed royal lodge offered by Buckingham Palace while he continues to wait for a review by the Risk Management Board (RMB).

Harry and Meghan have also reportedly agreed to a “secret rule” during their stay in the UK, especially as it relates to their rumored meeting with King Charles.

Prince Harry Explores Options For Family UK Trip

Earlier reports confirmed that Harry and Meghan would travel to the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet, for a series of events, including the official one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

The visit would mark a special occasion, as it would be the first time the Duke’s entire family has been on British soil together since the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

However, doubts emerged about whether he would still bring them after his request for taxpayer-funded police protection was denied by the UK government’s Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC).

He was reportedly considering leaving them behind at their Montecito home amid fears for their safety.

“The hope is they can meet their grandfather, but there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane,” a source said at the time. “He won’t put his children through that.”

However, Sky News reports that Harry is now exploring every available option to save the highly anticipated family trip, refusing to give up on his determination to bring Meghan and their two children back to British soil.

Harry Reportedly Accepts Buckingham Palace Offer

Amid the security standoff, reports suggest Harry has agreed to stay at an unnamed royal residence offered by Buckingham Palace.

However, a rep for the Sussexes said they will likely not stay at the royal residence throughout the trip, as they also plan to use private accommodation, per USA Today.

Speculation has grown that they could visit and stay at the late Princess Diana’s family home and final resting place, Althorp House.

Reports claim that the 13,000-acre Northamptonshire estate, which sits about an hour away from Birmingham, will be closed to the public from July 10 to July 11, around the time Harry and Meghan are expected to be in the country.

Sussexes Agree To ‘Secret Rule’ For UK Visit

During their upcoming trip, Harry and Meghan are said to have agreed to some “secret rules” with Buckingham Palace to keep things peaceful, especially regarding their rumored meeting with King Charles.

Royal expert Alison Boshoff, who claims to have inside sources in the Sussexes’ camp, said the meeting with the King will be “strictly private” and will have “no cameras, no subsequent Instagram posts, no revelations in interviews afterward,” the Daily Mail reports.

“Charles has let him know that he is really looking forward to seeing his grandchildren. Harry is looking forward to the visit and to building bridges. That is what everyone wants,” Boshoff’s source said.

While cameras are expected to follow them for their Invictus engagements, the Montecito-based couple has reportedly agreed to keep them away from family moments. The source also added that there “won’t be any commercial activity” during their stay.

Prince Harry’s Security Fight Continues Ahead Of UK Trip

Harry has been locked in a bitter legal battle with the British Home Office since his automatic, taxpayer-funded police security was stripped after he and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals in 2020.

While he has made several solo trips to his home country since then, including when he visited his father, King Charles, following the monarch’s cancer scare, he has consistently maintained that the UK is unsafe for his wife and children without state-backed protection.

Under British law, private security personnel, including bodyguards, cannot carry firearms or weapons such as tasers or batons for self-protection. They also do not have access to private intelligence from British police.

A spokesperson for the Duke spoke out on the need for police protection, suggesting that the accommodation offered by the Palace would not do much to keep them safe, especially when they are away from it.

“Prince Harry’s program in the United Kingdom includes both public and private engagements across the country. Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place,” the rep said, per Hello!

They further explained that “the issue has never been accommodation” but “whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of” Harry and Meghan’s visit.

“The independent Risk Management Board that RAVEC itself decided was necessary last November has still not taken place,” they added. “It is therefore difficult to understand how the proportionality of the current arrangements can credibly be maintained without that independent assessment.”

Harry And Meghan Teach Their Kids About Royal Roots

Harry and Meghan are doing their best to make the trip a memorable one for their children and have reportedly been “educating” them about their royal roots from their father’s side.

“She and Harry have been slowly educating them about their roots and that side of their family,” a source told Star Magazine. “It’s been an emotional process at times for Harry because it reminds him of all they’ve missed out on, but of course, he’s careful not to let the children see that.”

However, it is unlikely that they will get to spend time with their cousins, Prince William’s children, given the bad blood between the brothers.

“The last thing they want is for [the kids] to be aware of any tension,” the source added. “They want this to be a happy visit.”
