Jamey Carney, a New York native found dead in her Killarney, Ireland home, reportedly confided in a friend just days before her tragic passing that her migrant boyfriend had demanded a massive sum of money from her.

While international law enforcement partners initially launched a global manhunt for the “person of significant interest,” investigators quickly realized he had already fled the country.

Jordanian authorities have now officially confirmed that Jamey Carney’s boyfriend was tracked down and arrested in his native country of Jordan

New York Mom Was Found Dead In Her Bedroom In Ireland

Investigators piecing together the final days of New York native Jamey Carney have uncovered intense financial strain between her and her romantic partner, Ahmad Al-Saqar, just a week before she was found dead inside her Irish home.

Carney, originally from Westchester County, New York, is believed to have moved to Ireland with her young daughter in May 2021.

The 43-year-old mother was discovered murdered on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the bedroom of her rented residence in Killarney, County Kerry.

Detectives believe she was beaten and suffocated, as an autopsy revealed she had sustained multiple severe head injuries, according to The Irish Independent.

Jamey Carney’s Boyfriend Asked For A Large Sum Days Before Her Death

Carney reportedly confided in a friend that Al-Saqar had pressured her for a substantial sum of money, amounting to roughly $5,700, in the days leading up to the fatal attack.

To piece together the final timeline, authorities are meticulously reviewing her phone logs, text messages, social media profiles, and financial bank records.

Al-Saqar immediately emerged as the prime suspect in the murder probe. While Irish ports and airports were placed on high alert, investigators discovered he had already secured a 12-hour head start before Carney’s body was even found.

He took a 3:00 AM bus out of Killarney to Dublin Airport and boarded a flight to Turkey before crossing the border into the Middle East.

The Suspect Was Arrested In His Home Country

The international search for Carney’s boyfriend culminated in a massive breakthrough when Jordan’s Public Security Directorate tracked down and arrested the 28-year-old Al-Saqar in his home country.

Because Ireland lacks an official extradition treaty with Jordan, Irish authorities are currently compiling a comprehensive case file to determine the next legal steps for prosecution.

The suspect, an asylum seeker who passed through Ireland’s international protection system, had been living in the Killarney region for over a year.

Investigators have established that the pair were closely acquainted and were last seen together on the Monday evening immediately preceding her death.

The Pair Were Reportedly In A Spiritual Marriage

Carney had built a life in the famous tourist town since moving there with her young daughter five years ago.

According to the New York Post, she was previously married to an Irish national who lives in Killarney; however, it remains unclear what happened between them.

She reportedly met Al-Saqar about 18 months ago at a local anti-Israeli demonstration, and frequently shared photos of them on social media.

He told his friends that they’d done a religious marriage ceremony earlier this year and were man and wife according to Islamic tenets, a former roommate of his, Husam Salha, told The Irish Independent.

Around that time, Al-Saqar even posted a video of them to TikTok in which Carney can be seen wearing a ring, and captioned it “My bride and my princess.”

“Al-Saqar said they had gone to the mosque and accepted to be husband and wife,” Salha said. “In Islam, when you get married, you have to let all the people know that you are husband and wife.”

Salha claimed he got to learn of Carney’s death and Al-Saqar’s fleeing the country when he got to the migrant lodge that Tuesday evening and discovered police there.

“They talked to me for several hours, and they took my phone and asked me to call him,” he said.

Al-Saqar’s number reportedly rang, but he didn’t pick up the call.
