He went on to ease their worries by assuring fans via the post that he is back to health after the onstage medical emergency witnessed by thousands during the opening concert of his latest tour at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul last month.
“I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you,” the singer wrote before reminiscing on the memories he made during his performances in Pittsburgh and Detroit, which turned out to be a blast!
Richie’s update came alongside a carousel of photos from his onstage performances, capturing the singer in his element. He ended the post with a statement suggesting he is ready to hit the road again and continue his tour. “See you in Toronto… let’s party all night long! [party hat emoji],” Richie penned.

The unforeseen health scare during Richie’s “Sing a Song All Night Long” opening night led to an abrupt end to his performance after he was announced as feeling dizzy and unable to continue.
The Blast reported that the paramedics later met the Grammy winner backstage before he was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
Shortly after, the record producer announced that two stops on his ongoing tour with “Earth, Wind & Fire” would be postponed as he focuses on recovering his health.
A statement shared by the United Center in Chicago read, “Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows.” Furthermore, the release stated that Richie was “heartbroken” by the decision and cannot wait to be back on stage doing what he loves best.
Shortly after, his ex-wife, Brenda Harvey, also sent a positive update about his condition, assuring fans that the songwriter would be back on stage in no time.
What Really Happened On The Minnesota Stage?
During the opening concert at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, it was evident that the singer was struggling onstage.
Uploaded footage of the show captured Richie briefly sitting on the edge of a raised platform during his performance of “Dancing On The Ceiling.” As reported by The Blast, less than 30 seconds later, he sat down again on the opposite side of the stage while still performing.
Richie still tried to push through to finish the concert, but his body was not having it. He opted to perform “Three Times A Lady” from behind the piano, and then unexpectedly announced an intermission after telling the audience he felt “dizzy.”
Fans raised eyebrows after more than 40 minutes passed without the “I Call It Love” hitmaker returning to the stage. Earlier reports indicated that many even began to leave the arena before the official announcement that the show had come to an abrupt end.
Saxophonist Dino Soldo then addressed the audience, saying, “Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue. Additional information will be available.”
