Lauren Bennett Death Probe Focuses On Possible Suicide

Kelly Coffey-Behrens

New details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Lauren Bennett. The former G.R.L. and Paradiso Girls member died on May 29 at the age of 36. Although an official cause of death has not yet been released, sources familiar with the investigation say that law enforcement officials in the United Kingdom are currently viewing the case as a suspected suicide.

The development comes as Lauren Bennett’s family continues speaking publicly about the health struggles she allegedly faced in the months leading up to her death.

Authorities Continue Investigating Lauren Bennett’s Death

A formal death investigation was opened on June 12, with an inquest currently scheduled for October 30. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a cause of death, and the coroner’s inquiry remains ongoing.

Now, however, according to TMZ, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the investigation said officials are treating the death as a suspected suicide. However, investigators have not yet reached a conclusion, and the inquiry remains active as authorities review evidence and medical records connected to Bennett’s death.

Why Answers May Not Come Until October

The lengthy timeline of an investigation has frustrated some fans looking for clarity, but it is not unusual under the United Kingdom’s coroner system. Unlike in the United States, where preliminary findings are sometimes released quickly, British coroners often spend months reviewing witness statements, toxicology reports, medical histories, and other evidence before issuing a final ruling.

That process is designed to establish not only how a person died but also whether any underlying medical, mental health, or treatment-related factors contributed to the death. As a result, Bennett’s loved ones may not receive definitive answers until the October hearing.

Lauren Bennett’s Father Revealed Concerns About Her Final Months

While authorities continue their investigation, Bennett’s father has already shed light on what he described as a difficult period in his daughter’s life.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Richard Bennett revealed that the singer allegedly suffered a severe reaction to prescribed medication prior to her death. “Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication,” he wrote.

According to her father, relatives worked together to support Bennett throughout the ordeal. “As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her,” he said.

Richard also stressed that family members do not suspect foul play. “We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death,” he wrote.

Family Questions Medical Treatment Before Singer’s Death

Perhaps the most significant revelation from Richard Bennett’s statement involved his criticism of the medical care his daughter allegedly received.

The grieving father claimed healthcare providers failed to properly treat her during a critical five-month period before her death. “We have only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need,” he wrote.

His comments have fueled additional questions about Bennett’s physical and mental health during the months leading up to her death. However, no official findings have linked her death to any medication or medical treatment, and investigators have not publicly indicated whether those concerns are part of the ongoing inquiry.

Lauren Bennett’s Career Included One Of Pop Music’s Biggest Hits

Bennett’s death has resonated deeply with fans who remember her contributions to some of the biggest pop songs of the past two decades.

The British singer first rose to prominence after joining Paradiso Girls in 2007 before later collaborating with artists including CeeLo Green and will.i.am. Her most recognizable success came in 2011 when she appeared on LMFAO’s global smash hit “Party Rock Anthem,” a song that dominated charts worldwide and became one of the defining tracks of the decade.

She later joined G.R.L., the girl group behind songs including “Vacation” and “Lighthouse.” One of Bennett’s final solo releases, “Hurricane,” held special personal meaning for the singer. She previously revealed that the track was inspired by her mother’s and a friend’s struggles with mental health, making it one of the most personal songs of her career.

Now, as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding her death, family members and fans alike are awaiting answers about what led to the tragic loss of the 36-year-old performer.
