Musician Kid Rock has offered a candid assessment of Donald Trump’s second term in the White House.

Speaking in a new interview, the country-rock singer called Trump’s administration “the greatest sh-t show on earth” while also reflecting on the close friendship he shares with the former reality TV star.

The same conversation also saw Kid Rock blast critics of the president, arguing that they refuse to see how he always puts the country first.

Kid Rock Says It Is ‘Awesome’ Being Close To Trump

Donald Trump and Kid Rock have shared a close friendship dating back to the former’s 2016 presidential election victory.

Now, in a recent interview, the musician offered fresh insight into their longtime bond and shared his thoughts on the president’s current administration.

According to the country-rock star, it feels “f-cking awesome” to have a friend in such a powerful position, adding that they typically enjoy lighthearted conversations whenever they speak.

“He sleeps like me — he sleeps like five hours. And I’ll be, like, ‘Hey, let’s call the President and bullsh-t.’ And people will be, like, ‘What?’ And he’ll be, like, ‘Hey, Bob, what’s up?’ And blah, blah, blah. It’s the best. I enjoy the hell out of hanging out with him and talking with him and just having a front-row seat to the greatest sh-t show on Earth,” the country singer shared.

The Singer Says Trump Puts America First

Across both of his terms as president, Trump has faced significant criticism, much of it from left-leaning commentators and Democratic politicians.

Reacting to that criticism, Kid Rock said it frustrates him that many people fail to recognize what he believes is Trump’s dedication to putting the country first, especially compared to many of his predecessors.

“They want this level of bullsh-t we’ve had for — since I’ve been alive, with these politicians, presidents. They’re, like, ‘Well, he’s making so much money while he’s president.’ Like, no shit, ’cause he’s a businessman. He’s smart. He did that before he was president,” he said.

The musician added, “And I know his heart and soul; his concern is for this country — period. This country first. And I think every leader in any country should be that for their country.”

Kid Rock Shuts Down Trump Rift Rumors

From all indications, Kid Rock’s latest interview suggests his friendship with the president remains as strong as ever, despite recent speculation that the pair had drifted apart.

The rumors gained traction after he did not publicly wish Trump a happy birthday this year, even though he had in 2025.

Trump celebrated his 80th birthday on June 14 by hosting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. More than 5,000 guests attended, including First Lady Melania Trump, Barron Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. with his wife, Bettina.

Although Kid Rock was present at the celebration, he was not seen sitting with or near the president. He also did not perform the national anthem, a role that instead went to country singer Zac Brown. Brown’s anthem role at UFC Freedom 250 was also reported ahead of the event.

Donald Trump Has Openly Embraced Their Friendship

The president has acknowledged his close relationship with Kid Rock on multiple occasions. Among the most memorable was his acceptance speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

“He became a friend of mine over the last ten years, and he’s amazing,” Trump said, referencing the “Bawitdaba” musician. “Everyone loves him. I didn’t even know how big he was.”

Trump also showered Kid Rock with praise when the singer introduced him at the National Guard Association of the United States’ 146th General Conference that same year.

“He’s a great guy and a talented one,” Trump said of the Detroit rocker at the time.

Trump Calls Kid Rock By His Real Name

Their close friendship has even led Trump to give Kid Rock a nickname. The nickname first came to light when Trump celebrated the launch of Kid Rock’s MAGA-friendly restaurant in Nashville.

“Congratulations to my friend, Kid Rock (I call him Bob!), on the Grand Opening of his new Nashville restaurant, ‘The Detroit Cowboy,’” Trump said in a Truth Social post last year.

He added, “I hear it is a very friendly MAGA establishment, and look forward to going there sometime soon!”

Responding to the shout-out, Kid Rock wrote on X, “Thank you, Mr. President. Keep kickin’ -ss for America, sir!”
