Josh Duggar Hit With Another Prison Relocation Amid Privacy Violation Claims

The infamous eldest of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s nineteen children has been moved to four different federal prisons in the last year.
The newest relocation follows claims of privacy violations and retaliation by Josh Duggar’s attorney.
Josh Duggar To Call A Federal Prison In Ohio His New Home
Duggar, who is currently serving a 12-year and 7-month prison sentence, has reportedly been relocated to a federal prison in Lisbon, Ohio. The new location marks his fourth federal prison in the last year after he was sentenced in May 2022 for possessing child sexual abuse materials (CSAM).
The former reality TV star’s new home is FCI Elkton, which the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) describes as “a low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent low security satellite prison” on their website. It currently holds over 2,000 inmates.
A spokesperson for the BOP told KNWA/FOX24 that Duggar arrived at FCI Elkton on Wednesday, July 8. The move did not sit right with the inmate’s attorney, Beau Brindley, who has repeatedly slammed correctional officials for allegedly targeting his client.
The Former TV Personality’s Attorney Slams His Latest Prison Move
Brindley did not hold back when addressing Duggar’s latest move to FCI Elkton, telling TMZ that the relocation was unfavorable for his client. He claimed the new location would make it challenging for Duggar to have face-to-face visits from his wife and their seven children.
According to the attorney, the distance was the biggest problem for visits, as Duggar’s family would need to drive over 13 hours and more than 850 miles to reach FCI Elkton. Despite the disadvantageous journey, Brindley noted his client’s family wouldn’t abandon him.
The legal rep claimed they would try their best to brave the long journey to visit Duggar in prison while keeping in touch with him by phone. Brindley’s claims of his client’s family having a hard time visiting him in prison follow his comments about privacy violations and retaliation.
Josh Duggar’s Attorney Also Called Out Correctional Officers For Vindictive Relocations
The outlet reported that Brindley had accused federal officials of vindictive prison relocations, arguing that his client was moved from facility to facility after he raised concerns about privacy violations. The legal rep claimed correctional officials had violated the rules by opening Duggar’s legal mail at FCI Seagoville.
Brindley also accused officials at Seagoville of deleting Duggar’s list of approved people he was allowed to contact regularly. He claimed that due to their alleged actions, his client was unable to call these people. The lawyer doubled down on his claims after another prison transfer.
The Blast covered the story, reporting that Brindley claimed Duggar’s transfer from FCI Seagoville in Texas to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth was retaliatory. He claimed the transfer occurred after he raised concerns about the legal mail system at Seagoville. Additionally, he slammed prison officials, labeling it a “routine transfer” without further explanation.

Duggar’s time in prison began in April 2021 after he was arrested and charged with one count of receiving child sex abuse material. The Blast reported that he was held at the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas before he was transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Seagoville, Texas, in 2022.
The inmate’s transfer to the federal facility followed his 151-month sentence. Duggar’s relocation continued with a brief move to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. At the time, his relocation was explained as part of an alleged routine transfer process.
Following his stay at FMC in Fort Worth, Duggar was relocated to FTC in Oklahoma City. At the time, his relocation was speculated to be temporary because the location was considered a temporary holdover facility. Finally, he moved from FTC to his current prison, FCI Elkton in Ohio.
Josh Duggar’s Fall From Reality TV To Prison
Years before his incarceration, Duggar became infamous for allegedly molesting five underage girls as a teenager. The victims included two of his sisters, a shocking revelation that pushed TLC to cancel his family’s reality TV series. He confessed to the crime, telling PEOPLE:
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably, for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends.”
Duggar’s legal troubles continued in April 2021 when he was arrested and charged with receiving and possessing child pornography. He pleaded not guilty, but a jury found him guilty in December 2021, leading to a sentence of over 12 years plus 20 years of supervision after his release.
